Francisco "Paco" Serrano, a triathlete from Monterrey, Mexico, was sponsored by ESAB and qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Serrano qualified by finishing 25th at the 2008 Vancouver BG Triathlon World Championships held in Vancouver, Canada, last June.
He finished the Vancouver event, which consists of swimming, cycling and running, with an overall time of 1:51:59 to become the only athlete representing Mexico in the 2008 Olympic triathlon. In Beijing, he finished in 44th place, with a time of 1:54:46.09, just over five minutes slower than the winning time. Congratulations, Paco!
